Coastal Living Meets Thoughtful Design: Native Citizen & Zacation in Galveston
At Native Citizen, we believe every space should tell a story—blending aesthetic sophistication with effortless livability. We're thrilled to partner with Zacation, a premier vacation-rental company in Galveston, to bring design-forward hospitality to four exceptional beachside properties: The Cove House, Mackerel Manor, Casa de Galvez, and Rosenberg Retreat. Each home invites guests to experience coastal charm with curated touches that elevate comfort and style. The Cove House — Bayfront Luxe, Designed to Entertain Set on the serene shores of Galveston Bay’s Crash Boat Basin, The Cove House is more than a retreat—it’s a sociable experience. This modernized waterfront gem seats 12–16 guests across four tranquil bedrooms with a generous bunkroom. Native Citizen design interventions focused on open plan living with luxe coastal material palettes and layered textures—perfect for both celebrations and quiet waterfront mornings. Guests enjoy thoughtful amenities like media zones, a chef’s kitchen, and striking bay views that set each gathering apart. Mackerel Manor — Neighborhood Charm, Elevated Nestled in Fish Village on Galveston’s East End, this newly renovated 3-bedroom retreat features luxe living, modern comfort, and outdoor gathering spaces. Native Citizen elevated its custom back patio, built-in grill, and ambient sound system with furnishings that balance easy coastal vibes with smart function. Designed to impress for both guest stays and hospital visit stays (it's close to UTMB), the styling here is about relaxed elegance and thoughtful flow. Casa de Galvez — Classic Coastal Comfort Located in Galveston’s heart, Casa de Galvez blends proximity to the water with approachable style. Native Citizen’s design vision was to amplify its charming architecture with curated coastal accessories, warm natural textures, and elegant yet cozy furnishings to make any stay feel intentional and inviting. Rosenberg Retreat — Intimate and Inviting This one-bedroom sanctuary is perfect for solo travelers, couples, or students seeking serenity without sacrificing comfort. Have you ever wondered what thoughts live behind a work of art? At Native Citizen’s Montrose Studio, we are thrilled to introduce our newest featured artist, Brendan McKeon. His evocative style and soulful pieces have already found a place in the homes of several native citizens in Houston. His work is not just decoration — it is an invitation to pause, feel, and connect. Brendan is a Houston-based artist and a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Fine Arts. For him, art is more than formal training. It is the hundreds of one-of-a-kind pieces he has created (each born from a blank, meditated mind, and not all his artworks are the same either. He describes his artistic style as ever evolving, treating each blank canvas as a new opportunity. “I let my mind wander,” Brendan shares, “pulling different emotions from each session. To allow yourself to feel is the joy of art.” His hope is that his pieces become a companion for the space, something you see every day and continually discover in new ways. “I don't want to navigate the viewer into a defined message. Instead, create your own narrative and sense of it all — art allows connection to feeling.” In our conversation, we reflected on how social media has changed the way we experience art. It has made it more accessible but also more fleeting. We see art daily, often as a quick scroll and swipe moment. Inside the Native Citizen Interior Design Studio, we are reminded that art holds more power when experienced in-person, when you can see each meticulous brushstroke and feel the artist’s intention. We invite you to stop by our Montrose location to experience Brendan McKeon’s work firsthand. These are pieces, both big and small, meant not just to be seen but to be lived with. We are receiving painting every week. The Native Citizen studio displays a collection for all your home needs including furniture, rugs, plants, lights, and more. Talk to a designer to learn more about how we can transform your space, complimentary always. Sincerely, — Native Citizen P.S. Learn moreEvent Spotlight- Talking Trash With Mobi Waste
Native Citizen recently had the pleasure of hosting an event that got everyone talking—about trash. But not in the way you might think. Mobi Waste, started when Lane, son of Stacy Richardson (founder) was asked to help build a mobile onsite, waterless device that reduces the volume of trash by up to 70%. Now, they are redefining what it means to manage waste. Stacy's son came up with the concept as a student—designing a patented, waterless system that breaks down trash to a fraction of its original size. We saw a bin holding a sliver of shredded plastic, when in fact, it was holding 60 water bottles! Beyond Waste Reduction – Creating a Circular Economy Mobi Waste doesn’t just shrink trash—it transforms it into opportunity. Partnering with schools, businesses, and artists, they’ve created a ripple effect of sustainability and creativity: Artists are using reduced waste in innovative, mixed-media art pieces. Schools can turn materials into school uniforms, and cafeteria food waste into compost. STEM & Entrepreneurship Academy gives students the tools to become leaders and transform discarded resources into new value streams that benefit their schools, communities, and the planet. Businesses benefit from lower trash pickup costs or by repurposing materials into new products. On the non-profit side, Mobi Waste Outreach brings educational programs to schools, inspiring the next generation to take action toward a greener future. The Mission – Give Back. Feed the Earth. Stop the Landfill. Mobi Waste’s philosophy is simple yet powerful:Give it back to the community.Feed the Earth through composting and resource reuse.Make the landfill the last stop for waste that can’t be repurposed. The impact is already being felt locally, with Mobi Waste empowering Women-Owned Waste Solutions (WOWS) in Houston and beyond. Their vision is to scale this model to communities across the country. Movers, Shakers, and Change-Makers Our Native Citizen Studio was buzzing with energy during the event. We welcomed school superintendents, local precinct leaders, bankers, oil and gas executives, and community advocates—all eager to explore how they could play a part in building a cleaner, more sustainable future. Get Involved Mobi Waste and Mobi Waste Outreach have set a fundraising goal of $125,000 to expand their reach, technology, and educational initiatives. Donate here to join the movement toward a zero-waste world.Learn more about Mobi Waste, Inc. or Mobi Waste Outreach and see how you can help transform trash into a valuable resource.
